JABU: Offers this course with options in Ministerial Studies.

Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Religious Studies under the Faculty of Arts & Humanities in the above listed universities include;

CRS/IS and any other two (2) subjects.

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) AAU and OAU require CRS/IRS and an Arts or a Social Science subject.

(ii) EKSU requires two (2) Arts subjects and one other subject.

(iii) AAUA accepts CRS/IRS and any two (2) other subjects in Arts/Social Sciences.

(iv) AUI requires CRS/IRS and any other Arts subjects.

(v) UNIBEN accepts any three (3) subjects.

(vi) SAU requires CRS, Government or History and any other Arts subject.

(vii) UNIUYO requires CRS and other two (2) subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.

(viii) DELSU requires Christian Religious Studies and any other two (2) subjects from Arts and Social Science.

(x) IAUE requires English Language, Christian Religious Knowledge and any two (2) subjects from the Arts and Social Sciences.

O’Level Requirements


The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Religious Studies;

You require;

Five (5) SSCE credit passes to include English Language and CRS/IS.

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) UNIKINGS requires five (5) credits at SSC in English Language, Christian Religious Studies and three (3) other Arts subjects.

(ii) AAUA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, CRS/IRS and two (2) other subjects from the Arts or Social Sciences.

(iii) ADELEKE  requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics, IS/Arabic, Government or equivalent and any Nigerian Language.

(iv) AUI requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or equivalent in English Language, CRS/IRS, Literature in English and any other Arts subject.

(v) UNIBEN requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or five (5) Merit level passes in TC II at not more than two (2) sittings. Subjects should include English Language, Religious Studies and two (2) other Arts or Social Science subjects.

(vi) GOUNI requires ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics.

(vii) NDU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Religious Studies plus three (3) other subjects. Two (2) of which must be Arts subjects.

(viii) PAUL requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings (or equivalent) including English Language, Mathematics and three (3) Arts/Social Science subjects.

(ix) UNIUYO requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in CRS, English Language and any other three (3) subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.

(x) DELSU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or five (5) credits in TC II, or its equivalent which may include Mathematics, English Language, CRS and any three (3) of Arts and Social Science Subjects. 

(xi) IAUE: The Department requirements for both the four (4) yrs B.A and B.A (Ed) degree programmes includes five (5) credit Ordinary Level in English Language, Christian Religious or Islamic Religious Studies and Mathematics from humanities or Social Sciences any other two (2) relevant subjects in not more than two sittings at the WASC/SSSCE/GCE/NECO or their equivalents.

 

 

Direct Entry Requirements


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Religious Studies, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two (2) ‘A’ level subjects to include ReligiousStudies (CRS/IS).

 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) AAU accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes, to include CRS and one other Arts subject.

(ii) AAUA accepts ND, NCE or two (2)’A’ Level passes from the Arts or Social Sciences programme.

(iii) ABSU and DELSU accept NCE/ND/HND in Religious or Social Studies or ‘A’ Level in three (3) subjects including Religion Studies.

(iv) ADELEKE requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes to include Literature in English and other Arts subjects or NCE credit in English Language/Political Science
AUI accepts two (2) ‘A‘ Level passes in any relevant subjects, NCE credit and ND credit in relevant subjects/programme in addition to UTME requirements.

(v) UNIBEN accepts: 
a) Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Arts and Social Sciences at one sitting.
b) NCE credit in CRS or IS/Arabic studies or Religious Studies or Social Studies. In addition, candidates should have an overall credit level pass.
c) ND credit in Mass Communication.
d) Any other three (3) subjects.

(vi) BSU accepts NCE/’A’ Level passes in CRS, African Religion or its equivalent.

(vii) UNICAL also accepts NCE in Religious Studies.

(viii) UI accepts NCE merit in Religious Studies.

(ix) IMSU  – No Direct Entry.

(x) JABU accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in relevant subjects plus ND or HND.

(xi) UNIJOS accepts two (2) or three (3) year ND/NCE merit.

(xii) MCU accepts NCE credit/merit and good passes in JUPEB/IJMB in relevant subjects.

(xiii) NDU accepts: 
a) a minimum of two (2) ‘A’ Level passes, one of which must be in any one of the following subjects: English
Language, CRS, Government/any Nigeria Language/any Arts subject.
b) NCE merit in CRS or IS.

e) OAU accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes including CRS/IRS.

f) SAU and OAU accept NCE in Religious Studies (CRS or IS).

g) UNIKINGS requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes to include Christian Religious Studies and one other Arts subject.

h) UNIZIK accepts NCE merit in Religious Studies with four (4) ‘O’ Level credit passes in other subjects.

i) UNIUYO requires two (2) ‘A’ Level passes including CRS or NCE Merit in three (3) subjects, including CRS.

(xiv) DELSU requires;
a) two (2) A/L passes in CRS and one other Arts subject.
b) merit Pass in NCE, one of the subjects must be Religious Studies.
c) merit pass in DELSU Diploma in Law, Social Studies Education, Religious Studies Education and Guidance and Counselling.

(xv) IAUE accepts five (5) credit ordinary level including English language, Christian Religious Studies or Islamic Religious studies and any other three (3) relevant subjects in not more than two sittings at the WASC/SSCE/GCE/NECO or their equivalent, and an approved colleges of Education, Universities etc diploma passed with merit level. 

(xvi) MTU  accepts;
a) Five credits in General Certificate of Education, Ordinary Level and NECO at least two of which must be a GCE Advanced Level including Christian Religious Knowledge as in UTME above; and then
b) A pass in two principal subjects at the NCE Level/ A/L, or JUPEB and/or the equivalent plus five subjects at credit level in GCE O/L, SSCE, NECO, and TC II are acceptable in MTU.
c) A Three-Year Diploma in any Theological Seminary or College recognized by the University plus five credits at the GCE ‘O’ Level including English Language and CRK.
d) Eligible holders of Mountain Top Bible College Diploma could be admitted for a two-year programme leading to the award of B.A Degree in Mountain Top University’s Religious Studies.
e) A minimum of 2 GCE (A/L) passes one of which must be any one of the specified in (i) above, or Diploma in Religious Studies or a Diploma in a cognate Arts programme is also acceptable.
