Education and Yoruba can be studied under the Education in the following Nigerian Universities;
Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Education and Yoruba under the Faculty of Education in the above listed universities include;
Yoruba and any two (2) subjects chosen from History, Literature in English, French, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, Arabic, Geography and Physics.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) UNILAG requires Yoruba and two (2) of Government/History, Literature in English, French/Arabic, Christian Religious Studies / Islamic Studies, Geography, Economic/Commerce.
(ii) LASU accepts Government but does not accept Physics.
(iii) TASUED accepts any three (3) subjects from Arts and Social Sciences.
(iv) OOU accepts any three (3) Arts subjects.
(v) AAUA accepts Yoruba and any two (2) Arts subjects.
(vi) UNILORIN requires Yoruba and any other two (2) arts subjects.
O’Level Requirements
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Education and Yoruba;
You require;
Five (5) SSC credit passes including English Language and Yoruba.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) LASU and UNILAG require ‘O’ Level credit pass in Mathematics.
(ii) TASUED requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one (1) sitting or six (6) ‘O’ Level credit passes at two (2) sittings to include English Language and any other two (2) Arts or Social Science subjects.
(iii) UNILAG requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, and any three subjects from Arts, Science, and Social Sciences.
(iv) AAUA requires five ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Yoruba, Mathematics, Literature in English and one Arts subject.
(v) UNILORIN requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credits to include English, Mathematics, Yoruba, and any other two Arts Subjects obtained through GCE/SSCE/NECO/ NABTEB.
Direct Entry Requirements
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Education and Yoruba, if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) NCE/’A’ Level passes in Yoruba and any of Literature in English, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, Igbo and French.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(i) UNILORIN accepts NCE/Two A/L Passes to include Principal subject (Yoruba).
(ii) OAU requires NCE credit.
(iii) UNILAG accepts NCE credit/merit in Primary Education Studies and any two teaching subjects. Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects: Arts or Social Science. Three ‘A’ Level passes in Yoruba, and any of English, CRS/IRS, Igbo, French, History, Geography and Arabic.
(iv) LASU accepts ‘A’ Level passes in English Language, Arabic, Geography, Physics or History/ Government.
(v) TASUED accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes/NCE merit pass in Yoruba and any other subject in Arts and Social Science subject or the equivalent of ‘A’ Level Diploma certificate in Yoruba.
(vi) AAUA accepts NCE merit including Yoruba and another Arts or Social Science subject.
