Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Botany under the Faculty of Sciences in the above listed universities include;
Biology, Chemistry and any other Science subject.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
(i) UI, FULAFIA, EBSU, DELSU, UNN require Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics
(ii) UNIBENÂ and UNILAGÂ require Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(iii) UNICAL requires Mathematics or Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
(iv) OSUSTECH âSame as in Fisheries
(v)Â FUAM â Same as in Biochemistry
(vi)Â ABU requires Use of English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
(vii) LAGOS requires English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
(viii) FED-LOKOJA requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics
O’Level Requirements
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Botany;
You require;
Five (5) SSC Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
(i) UNN requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics or its equivalent.
(ii) UDUSOK and FUAM accept âOâ level passes in Mathematics and English Language.
(iii) DELSU does not require âOâ level credit pass in Physics but  accepts âOâ level pass in English Language provided candidates have distinction in ‘O’ level Biology.
(iv) GOMSU accepts D7 in Physics
(v) UNIBEN and ABSU accept âOâ level  pass in Physics
(vi) UI requires five (5) or six (6) ‘O’ level credit passes at one (1) or two (2) sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any one (1) or two (2) of Physics, Geography and Agricultural  Science
(ix)Â FUAM and UNILAGÂ â Same as in Biochemistry
(x)Â OSUSTECHâ Same as in Fisheries
(xi)Â UNICALÂ for Genetic and Biotechnology requires five âOâ level (5) credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
(xii) PAUL Â requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
(xiii) EKSU requires five (5) SSC Credit passes in not more than two sittings in English Language, Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry and one other subject.
(xiv) UNILAG requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
(xv) FED-LOKOJA requires Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and any other Science subject
(xvi) KSUSTA requires Five (5) SSC Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any of Physics, Agriculture and Geography.
(xvii) ABU requires Five âOâ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics
(xviii) OAUÂ accepts Agricultural Science.
(xvix) JABUÂ accepts five (5)’ ‘O’ Level credit passes in relevant subjects plus ND and NCE. It also accepts Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.
(xx) ABSU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English  Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
(xxi) FUD accepts English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Geography in SSC or its equivalent with minimum credit level in one or two sittings.
Direct Entry Requirements
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Botany, if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Biology/Botany/Zoology and Chemistry or Physics.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
(i) GOMSU, IBADAN, OAU and CALABAR require Chemistry.
(ii) UDUSOK and UNIMAID accept ND/HND in relevant programmes
(iii)  UNILAG accepts Very good passes in the following three (3) JUPEB/âAâ-level subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
(iv)Â UNIBENÂ in addition to the UTME requirements accepts ND upper credit / HND lower credit in Food Technology or Science Laboratory Technology NCE credit in Biology/Chemistry.
(v) DELSU accepts NCE merit in Biology and any other two (2) subjects. Merit in DELSU Diploma in Biology Education may be considered.
(vi) UNICALÂ requires ‘A’ Level passes / NCE merit or above in Biology and Chemistry plus ‘O’ Level credit pass in Physics or Mathematics.
(vii) UNN requires
a) Â ‘A’ level passes or its equivalent in Chemistry and Biology or Botany or Zoology in addition to the UTME requirements.
b) NCE merit in Biology and Chemistry from a recognized institution, plus the university minimum entry requirements..
(viii) LASU accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes chosen from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Physics.
(x)Â FUAMÂ â Same as in Biochemistry
(xi)Â UIÂ requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Botany, Chemistry or Botany / Biology.
(xii) EBSU accepts HND, ND upper credit and NCE merit  respectively in the relevant programmes
(xiii)Â OSUSTECHâ Same as in Fisheries
(xiv)Â PAUL accept ‘A’ Level passes in Biology/Zoology, Botany and Chemistry or any other equivalent examination.
(xv) FULOKOJA accepts In addition to meeting the UTME Entry Requirements; Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes to include one (1) of Botany, Zoology, Biology or Chemistry; IJMB minimum of 8 points with passes in relevant subjects; NCE Credit pass in Chemistry and Biology; ND upper credit in Biological Science, Science Laboratory Technology or related programmes from a recognized institution; HND lower credit in relevant programmes from Accredited Tertiary Institutions; Degree (Third Class) relevant to the programme.
(xxi) UNN requires
a) ‘A’ Level passes or its equivalent in Chemistry and Biology or Botany or Zoology in addition to the UTME requirements.
b) NCE merit in Biology and Chemistry from a recognized institution, plus the university minimum entry requirements..
(xxii) LASU accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Physics.
(xxiii) UNIJOSÂ accept ND upper credit in Forestry and HND pass in Forestry and other relevant programmes.
(xxiv) UNIPORTÂ No Direct Entry.
(xxv) OAUÂ accepts two (2) `’A’ Level passes in Chemistry, Botany or Biology
(xxvi) FUD accepts two (2) ‘A’ Level passes (Graded A-D in GCE A level, NCE, IJMB or OND) at the âAâ Level in relevant subjects (Biology, Botany, Chemistry and Physics) with minimum 8 points. ND upper credit must be related discipline or area, Science Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology. Nursing Diploma at Pass level. ND Food Science & Technology, ND Health Technology lower credit may be considered where deemed appropriate step down to 100 level.
(xxvii) ABU accepts Two âAâ level /IJMB passes which must include Biology or Botany or Zoology and Chemistry in addition to O/L requirements.
(xxviii) UNIPORT accepts Two (2) A/level GCE or HSC or IJMB or JUPEB passes in Biology and any one of Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics including UTME entry requirements.
(xxix) FUL accepts In addition to the UTME requirements, DE  candidates must have any of the following: ND with at least Lower Credit or HND in Horticulture, Science Lab. Tech, Forestry, Crop Production or any relevant area; NCE: Merit in Biology, Integrated Science, Agric. Science or any relevant area; IJMB: Minimum of 9 points  in Biology and any two of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. GCE: Advanced Level with at least 2 credit passes in Biology/Botany and any of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.
(xxx) BUK accepts
(a)Â Two ‘A’ level passes in Biology/Botany/Zoology and Chemistry or Physics.
(b)Â Â IJMB.
(c)Â NCE â Minimum of B grade in the relevant subject combination, minus education in all programmes in the faculty of Life Sciences.
