Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Microbiology under the Faculty of Sciences in the above listed universities include;

Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics. 

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) UDUSOK and FUTA accept Agric Science in lieu of Biology.

(ii) UNIOSUN, SALEM, FUAM, UNIBEN and ABU require Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(iii) UNICAL and UNIUYO require Physics as third subject.

(iv) EVANGEL and AJAYI require Biology and Chemistry and any other Science subject.

(v) UNIOSUN requires Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry

(vi) FUD:
(a) For Microbiology requires Biology and Chemistry and any other Science subject.
(b) For Environmental Science and Toxicology requires Chemistry, Biology and Geography or any other Science subject.

(vii) KWASU requires credit passes from English Language, Mathematics and any three of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics and Agricultural Science.

(viii) UNIPORT requires Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics

(ix) CRESCENT requires Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics/Geography.

(x) OSUSTECH requires Biology, Chemistry and any one (1) of Agricultural Science, Mathematics and Physics. For Microbiology, FUTO requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics.
 

(xi) NILE accepts any three (3) Science subjects

(xii) AUGUSTINE accepts any Science subject in lieu of Physics or Mathematics

(xiii) DELSU requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xiv) RSU accepts Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry or Physics.

(xv) FUTA requires Biology, Chemistry and any one of Mathematics or Physics.

(xvi) FUOYE requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics. (xvii) BSU requires Chemistry Biology and any of Physics, Mathematics or Geography.

(xviii) FUPRE requires Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics or Physics.

(xix) BUK requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xx) UMYU requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xxi) FUPRE requires Chemistry, Physics, Biology or Mathematics.

(xxii) UNILORIN requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xxiv) FUWUKARI – for Microbiology; Biology, Chemistry and any one of Physics or Mathematics.

(xxv) UNIHEZ requires Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics.

(xxvi) MAUTECH requires Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics for both Microbiology and Science Laboratory Technology.

(xxviii) UNILAG requires English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xxix) FULOKOJA requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics/Mathematics.

(xxx) ABU requires Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(xxxi) FUL requires Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xxxii) FUK requires Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics.

(xxxiii) KASU requires Biology, chemistry and one other Science subject.

(xxxiv) LANDMARK requires Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics.

(xxxv) SSU requires Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics.

(xxxvi) FUDMA requires English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.

O’Level Requirements


The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Microbiology;

You require;

Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) MADONNA accept a pass in Physics with credit in Mathematics.

(ii) IMSU, COOU, UNIUYO accept a pass in English Language.

(iii) UI requires 5 or 6 ‘O’ level credits passes at one or two sittings include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any one or two of Physics, Geography and Agric Science.

(iv) UNIJOS accepts candidates with pass at the Remedial Science Programme of the University of UNIJos.

(v) UNIUYO requires a credit pass in English Language.

(vi) AJAYI requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes must include: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and one (1) other Science subject at one (1) sitting or six (6) credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings

(vii) BOWEN does not accept Agric. Science as another Science subject

(viii) FUAM and KWASU –
(a) Candidates seeking admission into any of these Programmes must possess five (5) credit passes which MUST be from one examination body (i.e. either WAEC or NECO) and obtained at NOT more than two (2) sittings. The Department does not accept the combination of both WAEC and NECO. Students of FUAM Pre-degree Remedial Science Programme who pass their end of session examinations are considered or admission on the condition that they also pass UTME.

(b) NOTE: Agricultural Science and Health Science shall NOT be accepted in place of Biology. Further Mathematics shall NOT be accepted in place of Physics or Mathematics.

(ix) RHEMA and JABU accept Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.

(x) UNIOSUN accepts Geography or Economics in lieu of Physics.

(xi) GOUNI, PLASU accepts credit pass in any other Science subject in lieu of Physics.

(xii) FUTA requires five (5) SSC credit passes or its equivalent at a maximum of two (2) sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Biology/ Agricultural Sciences, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

(xii) RUN requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry Biology and Physics.

(xiv) FUTMINNA requires at least a pass in Physics with Credit pass in any other Science subject.

(xv) KWASU requires credit passes from English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and any two of Biology, Physics, Further Mathematics or Agricultural Science.

(xvi) EVANGEL accepts any other Science subject in lieu of Physics.

(xvii) FUD requires For Microbiology accepts English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in SSC or its equivalent with minimum credit level in one or two sittings

(xviii) KSUSTA accepts credit pass in Geography or Agricultural Science in lieu of Physics.

(xix) OSUSTECH requires five O’ level credit passes in English language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and any one of Agricultural Science, Physics and Geography.

(xx) CRESCENT requires credit passes in five SSCE/GCE/NECO subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Geography with at least a pass in Physics, Biology & Agric Science.

(xxi) BSU for Microbiology accepts passes in five (5) prescribed subjects in Preliminary Science of BSU in addition to minimum UTME score.

(xxii) UNN requires O’ level credit passes in English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

(xxiii) UNIKINGS accepts five (5) credits at SSC in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and any other Science subject.

(xxvii) LANDMARK accepts in lieu of Physics ‘O’ Level credit pass in any of the following subjects: Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Agricultural Science and Food and Nutrition.

(xxviii) ODUDUWA accepts ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology/Health Science and any other Science subject.

(xxix) EDSU accepts five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or its equivalent including English Language and Mathematics and any other three (3) science subjects

(xxx) FUDMA requires Five ‘O’ level Credits to include: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xxxi) EDSU requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xxxii) DELSU requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credits which must include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics & English Language.

(xxxiii) AAUA requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

(xxxiv) FUOYE requires five (5) credit at SSC (or its equivalent) including English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry and not more than two (2) sittings.

(xxxvi) For Microbiology, FUTO requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Biology at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xxxvii) UMYU requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics at not more than two (2) sittings

(xli) FUWUKARI – for Microbiology requires; Candidates must obtain Five(5) Credits at not more than two sittings including English Language, Mathematics, Biology and any two from the following subjects: Biology/Physics/Chemistry or Geography/Statistics obtained from Senior School. Certificate(SSCE), National Examination Council(NECO), National Business and Technical Examination Board(NABTEB) (or its equivalent) or its equivalent.

(xlii) UNIHEZ accepts Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and any other science subject.

 

(xliv) UNILAG requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xlv) FULOKOJA requires Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and any other Science subject.

(xlvi) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xlvii) UNIPORT accepts Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

(xlviii) FUL requires Five (5) Credit passes at SSCE, GCE, NECO and NABTEB O’ Level examination in Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in not more than two sittings

(xlix) FUK accepts Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(l) KASU accepts Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(li) LANDMARK accepts Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or one of Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Computer studies, Data processing, Agricultural science, Food, and nutrition.

(lii) SSU accepts Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

(liii) MAUTECH requires Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics

Direct Entry Requirements


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Microbiology, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and any one (1) from Biology, Zoology or Botany.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) AUGUSTINE requires two (2) ‘ ‘A’ Level passes in Biology, Botany, Zoology and Chemistry or Physics. Also accepts NCE credit and ND in addition to five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or its equivalent.

(ii) WDU requires two (2) ‘ ‘A’ Level passes in Biology and any one (1) of Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics. It accepts ND in Biology and Chemistry.

(iii) UI does not accept ‘A’ level Zoology.

(iv) IMSU and ABSU – No Direct Entry Admission.

(v) RHEMA, UDUSOK, FUTMINNA accept ND/HND lower credit in addition to ‘O’ level credit pass in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and other science subjects.

(vi) AAU accepts only first degree and five ‘O’ level credits in relevant subjects.

(vii) AAUA accepts ND (Upper Credit)/HND (lower credit) in the relevant fields.

(viii) FUTA, requires;
a) ND with a minimum grade of Upper Credit in relevant disciplines from a recognized institution; or
b) at least two (2) subjects at GCE ‘A’ Level or equivalent with a minimum of Grade C.

(ix) UNILAG accepts very good passes in the following three JUPEB/A-LEVEL subjects: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

(x) MOUAU requires A’ level Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Zoology

(xi) FUTMINNA accept ND/HND with at least lower credit plus four ‘O’ level credit passes in relevant subjects.

(xii) DELSU
a) At least two ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and either Biology, Botany or Zoology.
b)Diploma with upper credit in relevant courses in microbiology from polytechnic recognized by the University.

(xiii) IGBINEDION accepts ND/NCE in Biology, Food Technology or Botany.

(xiv) COOU accepts ND/HND/NCE (lower credit) in any related Science discipline with Biology Major in the combination.

(xv) FUTO requires,
a) At least two (2) ‘A’ Level passes not below Grade C in Chemistry and any from Biology, Zoology and Botany.
b) ND/HND at Upper Credit level in life sciences.
c) First Degree in life sciences.
d) Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects namely Chemistry, Biology and Physics. It does not accept NCE. Candidates must in addition meet the ‘O’ Level requirements

(xvi) UNIBEN in addition to UTME requirements, accepts:
(a) ND (Upper credit) / HND (Lower credit) in Food Technology or Science Laboratory Technology;
(b) NCE (Overall Merit) with Credit pass in Biology.

(xvii) UNIUYO accepts ND/HND in relevant fields plus UTME requirements.

(xviii) UNICAL require two ‘A’ level passes from Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

(xix) UNIMAID accepts HND in Microbiology and related field.

(xx) AJAYI requires A’ level passes in Biology and Chemistry plus UTME requirements.

(xxi) CRESENT same as in Biodiversity Conservation and Utilization Level IJAMB/NCE/ND or approved equivalent in Botany, Zoology, Biology and Chemistry.

(xxii) BIU requires in addition to the O’ level requirements specified , a minimum of two relevant subjects passed at GCE Advanced level or NCE (3 merits) or National Diploma in relevant field not below credit level.

(xxiii) UNIOSUN requires Two ‘A’ Level passes from Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Accepts a minimum of Lower Credit in ND and approved equivalents.

(xxv) NUN accepts any two (2) ‘ ‘A’ Level passes in Science subjects. Also accepts ND/HND lower credit or NCE merit in relevant programmes.

(xxvi) CRAWFORD accepts ND/NCE in Biology, Food Technology, Science Laboratory Technology or Botany

(xxvii) UNN accepts passes at Higher School Certificate or GCE A/L in Chemistry and Biology, or Chemistry and Zoology, or Chemistry and Botany in addition to the UTME entry requirement.

(xxviii) EVANGEL accepts NCE or ND in related field in addition to UTME requirements.

(xxix) FED-DUTSE accepts ND (merit) and IJMB with minimum of eight points.

(xxx) FUAM requires ‘A’ Level GCE passes in Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics MUST be obtained. NCE, ND, and HND graduates in Science/ Technology with credit level passes in the relevant subjects must be considered in addition to UTME requirements.

(xxxi) KWASU accepts:
a) Two G.C.E. A/L or its equivalent, one of which must be in relevant field.
b) ND with minimum of upper credit in relevant subject;
c) HND with lower credit in the relevant field.

(xxxii) CRUTECH accepts ND/HND (lower credit) in Biology, Biotechnology, Zoology, Microbiology, Botany, Laboratory Science, or related fields plus UTME requirement

(xxxiii) CRUTECH same as in Biodiversity Conservation and Utilization Level IJAMB/NCE/ND or approved equivalent in Botany, Zoology, Biology and Chemistry.

(xxxiv) RENAISSANCE requires ND (Upper Credit) from a recognised institution plus UTME requirements.

(xxxv) KSUSTA requires GCE A’ level, NCE, IJMB or equivalent in Biology and Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Technical Drawing in addition to O’ level requirement. It also accepts ND/HND at credit level in relevant fields.

(xxxvi) OSUSTECH requires
(a) Two A’ level passes in Biology, Chemistry or Physics
(b) National Diploma (ND) with Distinction and Credit passes in relevant subjects.
(xxxvi) MCPHERSON accepts ND ( at least upper credit) or HND(at least lower credit)in relevant course is acceptable. O/L credit in either Physics or Mathematics in addition to ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology is acceptable.

(xxxvii) CALEB accepts ND at Credit level in Science Laboratory Technology or Sciences related studies may be considered for admission by direct entry provided they have the UME subjects at one sitting.

(xxxviii) CRESCENT accepts
(a) CRESCENT accepts IJMB and ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics or Geography at acceptable grades.
(b) ND, HND or its equivalent in Agric or Civil Engineering or elated courses provided the O’ level requirements have been met can be admitted into 200 level.

(xxxix) BSU for Environmental Management and Toxicology accepts holders of ND/HND (upper credit) in Health Technology, Agriculture and other related fields.

(lx) UMYUK requires at least two A’ level credits from Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry etc. Candidates must have A level Biology. NCE candidates must have Biology and Chemistry.

(lxi) SWU accepts
a. NCE (credit) in Biology or Chemistry. A’ level Chemistry and Biology/Botany/Zoology.
b. Accepts merit in ND (upper credit) or HND in relevant courses is acceptable. O/L credit in either Physics or Mathematics in addition to ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology is acceptable.

(lxii) UNIBEN for Science Laboratory Technology in addition to UTME requirements may accepts at least two advance level passes in the General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) or Higher School Certificate (HSC) or its recognized equivalents at not more than two sittings. The subjects should be of the Sciences.

(lxiii) BASU accepts IJMB/A Level/GCE A Level Credit passes in Biology, Chemistry and anyone of Mathematics, Physics or Agric Science. National Diploma (ND) with at least Lower Credit in the following areas: Science Lab Technology and Food Science Technology. The candidate must also have the 5 O’ Level requirements in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

(lxiv) UNIKINGS accepts ‘A’ Level passes in Biology and any one of Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry. It also accepts NCE/ND/HND in related field plus UTME requirements.

(lxv) SSU accepts HND lower credit or ND upper credit in Science Laboratory Technology, Food Science Technology or its equivalents. IJMB SCIENCE (10 Points) with the UTME requirements.

(lxvi) ODUDUWA accepts ND/NCE in related programmes.

(lxviii) EDSU requires two (2) A level passes in Biology, Botany, Zoology and Chemistry or Physics. NCE and ND credit

(lxix) FUDMA accepts Two ‘A’ level passes in Botany /Zoology/Biology and Chemistry. ND/NCE with good grades in any relevant field.

(l) PLASU accepts
a) degree in any programme provided the candidate meets the UTME requirements
b) HND lower credit in relevant programme, with the UTME requirements,
c) ND lower credit in relevant programme, with the UTME requirements.
d) PLASU does not accept university diplomas and other diplomas not accredited by the relevant accrediting bodies.

(li) EDSU accepts;
a) Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and any one from Biology, Zoology or Botany.
b) NCE/OND/HND with credit passes from a recognised institution in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements.
c) A very good passes in JUPEB in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
d) IJMB passes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

(lii) RSU in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements accepts:
(a) HND (Lower Credit) in related courses
(b) OND/ND (Upper Credit) in related courses.
(c) HSC/GCE ‘A’ Level passes in Biology and Chemistry or Physics.

(liii) FUOYE – Direct Entry candidates in addition to having five (5) credits at SSC, obtain a minimum of upper credit in OND in a relevant Biological Science course, minimum of ‘B’ grade in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in IJMB and overall ‘B’ grade in relevant courses or subjects in N.C.E

(lv) BUK accepts IJMB, NCE – Minimum of B grade in the relevant subject combination, minus education in all programmes in the faculty of Life Sciences.

(lvi) UNILORIN accepts UTME qualifications plus a minimum of two (2) A’ Level passes in Biology and Chemistry.

(lviii) FUWUKARI – for Microbiology it accepts; Direct Entry candidates must obtain at least two ‘A’/ Level passes in relevant Science subjects which must include: Biology, Chemistry, Botany/Geography/Mathematics/Physics at GCE A/ level, IJMB/Advanced NABTEB or merit pass at NCE or at least a credit in OND/HND in relevant fields. Candidate must also satisfy UTME admission requirements of Five (5) Credits including English Language and Mathematics

(lix) FULOKOJA accepts In addition to meeting the UTME Entry Requirements; Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes to include one (1) of Botany, Zoology, Biology or Chemistry; IJMB minimum of 8 points with passes in relevant subjects; NCE Credit pass in Chemistry and Biology; ND upper credit in Biological Science, Science Laboratory Technology or related programmes from a recognised institution; HND lower credit in relevant programmes from Accredited Tertiary Institutions; Degree (Third Class) relevant to the programme.

(lx) ABU accepts Two ‘A’ level /IJMB passes in Chemistry and Biology in addition to O/L requirements.

(lxi) UNIPORT accepts Two (2) A/level GCE or HSC or IJMB or JUPEB passes in Biology and any one of Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics including UTME entry requirements.

(lxii) FUL In addition to UTME requirements, DE candidates must have any of the following: IJMB: Minimum of 9 points in Biology and any two of Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics. GCE A’ Level: with Credit pass in Biology or Botany and at least two from Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics; ND: Lower credit in Science Lab. Tech or Food Technology; HND: In either Microbiology, Biotech or Biochemistry; NCE: Merit with Credit Pass in Integrated Science

(lxiii) FUK accepts Three ‘A’ Level passes in Biology and any other two of Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Botany and Geography OR Minimum of 9 points in IJMB, 10 points in NCE with credit pass in the subject of specialization OR at least a Merit pass in relevant Diploma. In addition, candidate must satisfy the ‘O’ Level requirement for the Programme.

(lxiv) KASU accepts Two ‘A’ Level passes in Biology and any from Chemistry Physics, Zoology or Botany. ND/HND Lower Credit in related field. NCE merit and IJMB 7 Points and above in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements.

(lxv) LANDMARK accepts Two (2) A level passes in Chemistry and any one (1) from Biology, Zoology or Botany.

lxvi) SSU accepts A minimum of Merit at NCE in a relevant course or a Lower Credit at ND/HND in Laboratory Science.

(lxvii) MAUTECH accepts Two (2) A level passes in Chemistry and Biology. ND/HND at credit passes in relevant fields
