Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Statistics under the Faculty of Sciences in the above listed universities include;

Mathematics and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry and Economics. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

 

(i) OAU and UI – do not accept Economics.

(ii) BIU, BOWEN and KUST accept Mathematics and any two (2) of Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.

(iii) UI – Mathematics and any two (2) Science subjects.

(iv) IMSU – Mathematics and Physics are compulsory

(v) UNILORIN requires Mathematics and any two (2) of Chemistry, Physics, Economics and Geography.

(vi) UDUSOK accepts Mathematics and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography and Economics.

(vii) UNIPORT does not accept Geography.

(viii) ABU requires Use of English, Mathematics and any two of Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Geography.

(ix) UNN requires Physics, Mathematics/Chemistry/ Economics/Biology/Geography.

(x) FUTA requires Physics, Mathematics and one (1) of Chemistry, Geography, Economics or Biology.

(xi) FED-LAFIA, LAUTECH and FUNAAB require Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

(xiii) ABU requires Mathematics and any two (2) of Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Geography.

(xiv) UNIBEN requires Mathematics, Economics and any other Science subject.

(xv) UNIABUJA accepts Biology and Geography.

(xvi) BASU accepts Agricultural Science in lieu of Biology.

(xvii) MAUTECH requires Mathematics and any two (2) of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agric Science, Geography and Economics.

(xviii) FUTMINNA requires Mathematics, Physics and any of Chemistry, Economics or Geography.

(xix) BSU requires Mathematics, Physics and any of Chemistry or Biology.

(xx) BUK requires Mathematics, Physics and any of Chemistry, geography and Biology/Agricultural Science.

(xxi) FUTO requires Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.

(xxii) FED-WUKARI requires Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics.

(xxiii) UNILAG requires English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any of Chemistry, Economics, Biology and Geography.

(xxiv) FED-KASHERE requires Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or Biology.

(xxv) KASU requires Mathematics, Physics and one other Science subject

 

O’Level Requirements


The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Statistics;

You require;

Five (5) SSC credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and at least three (3) subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

 

(i) UNIZIK and AAU accept  ‘O’ level pass in English Language.

(ii) UNN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and  two (2) subjects from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography.

(iii) ABSU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and any three (3) of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology, Geography and Additional Mathematics.

(iv) IMSU requires ‘O’ level  credit pass in Physics and accepts ‘O’ level pass in English Language.

(v) UI does not accept Economics as a Science Subject.

(vi) UI requires five (5) or six (6) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and any other three (3) Science subjects at one(1) or two (2) sittings.

(vii)    UNIPORT requires Chemistry, Physics and any one (1) of Biology, Geography or Economics.

(viii)    BASU and OAU do not accept Economics and Geography.

(ix)   UMUDIKE requires ‘O’ level credit  passes  in Physics/Mathematics, Chemistry and   Biology

(x)  AAU requires subjects listed for the UTME in addition to English Language and Mathematics. 

(xi)  KWARARAFA requires ‘O’ level credit pass in Physics.

(xii)    FUNAAB requires Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.  The University does not accept Economics as a UTME subject.

(xiii)    ABU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics three (3) other subjects, two (2) of which must be from Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography.

(xiv) UNICAL requires in addition to the general entry requirements candidates must have ‘O’/level credit passes in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. ‘O’ level credit pass in Further Mathematics will be an advantage.

(xv) EKSU does not accept NCE for Direct Entry.

(xvi) FUTA requires English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two (2) of Chemistry, Economics, Geography and Biology.

(xvii)   ABSU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and any three (3) of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology, Geography and Additional Mathematics

(xviii) KSUSTA does not accept Statistics and Further Mathematics.

(xix)   FED-LAFIA and LAUTECH require five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

(xx) FUTO requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other Science subject at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xxi) MAUTECH requires three (3) other ‘O’ level  credit passes from Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Geography, Economics/Commerce, Computer Studies and IT/Data Processing 

(xxii) FUTMINNA requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics with any two (2) of Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing

(xxiii) BUK requires five (5) SSCE credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and two (2) from the following; Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science and Geography.

(xxiv) UNILORIN requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics and at least two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics, Economics and Geography.

(xxv) FED-WUKARI – Candidates must obtain Five (5) Credits at not more than two sittings including English Language, Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry and any one of the following: Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Biology, Geography, Agricultural Science/Animal Husbandry/Fisheries obtained from Senior School Certificate(SSCE), National Examination Council(NECO), National Business and Technical Board (NABTEB) or its equivalent.

(xxvi) UNILAG requires Five O/Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and any one of Economics, Chemistry and Geography.

(xxvii) FED-KASHERE requires Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any of Further Mathematics, Geography and Biology.

(xxviii) KASU accepts Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Physics and two other science subject

Direct Entry Requirements


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Statistics, if you don’t intend to use UTME.

You require;

Two (2) ‘A’ level passes to include Mathematics or Statistics. NCE credit in relevant subjects

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:

(i) OAU  requires Physics or Chemistry in addition to Mathematics.

(ii) RHEMA accept NCE merit in Mathematics or ND in Statistics.  

(iii) UNIUYO accepts ND upper credit, HND lower credit and NCE merit in relevant programme/subject plus the UTME requirements.

(iv) UI  accepts
(a)  two (2) ‘A’ level subjects to include Mathematics plus five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language.

(v) UNILORIN accepts ND with the UTME requirements. Also accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes in  Mathematics, and any of Physics, Chemistry, Economics and   Geography.

(vi) ABSU -No Direct Entry.

(vii) IMSU accepts two (2) ‘A’ level passes including Mathematics/Statistics, ND in Statistics from recognised institution

(viii)    KUST accepts ND/HND in Statistics or relevant programme.

(ix)   UNIJOS does not accept Diploma in Computer  Science.

(x)    FUTO requires;
a) At least two (2) ‘A’ level passes not below Grade C in Mathematics and Physics.
b) ND/HND at Upper Credit level in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Geology, Computer Science or Engineering.
c) First Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Geology, Computer Science or Engineering.
d) Very good passes in three JUPEB subjects namely Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. It does not accept NCE. Candidates must in addition meet the ‘O’ Level requirements.

(xi) MAUTECH accepts IJMB/ Two (2) A level credit passes in Mathematics and any one of physics, chemistry, Statistics, Economics or Geography. ND/HND/NCE at credit level in Computer science, Mathematics, Mathematics Education or Statistics

(xii) FUNAAB accepts

a) ND upper credit in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics or related programmes.

b) NCE credit in relevant subjects plus the UTME requirements. c) Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Statistics, Physics and Mathematics.

(xii) FUTA accepts  

a. two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and at least one (1) subject from Physics, Economics, Geography, Chemistry and Biology.

b. ND upper credit in Statistics  from recognised institutions c. NCE merit  in Mathematics and any other Physical Science subject.  

(xiv) UNN accepts

(a) two (2) ‘A’ level passes to include Mathematics or Statistics plus the UTME requirements.

(b)  NCE credit in relevant subjects plus the UTME requirement.  

(c) UNN accepts ND upper credit, HND lower credit and NCE merit in relevant subject/programme plus the UTME requirements.  

(xv) KSUSTA accepts ‘A’ level passes in relevant subjects such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics in addition to ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and either of Physics, Chemistry, Economics or Geography. It also accepts ND/HND credit in relevant programmes  in addition to the UTME requirements.

(xvi) LAUTECH accepts

a. two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and  one (1) subject from Physics, Economics, Geography, Chemistry and Biology. a. ND upper credit in Statistics  from a recognised institution

b. NCE credit in Mathematics and any other Physical Science subject. 

(xvii) ABU accepts

a. ‘A’ level/IJMB passes in Mathematics and any two (2) of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography and Geology.

b. NCE Mathematics/ Statistics with any of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography and Geology

(xviii) UNIBEN in addition to the UTME requirements may  consider

(a)  two (2) ‘A’ level passes in any of the recognized equivalent by the Senate of the University of Benin at not more than two (2) sittings. The subjects should include Mathematics/Statistics and any other Science or relevant Social Science subjects, Economics, Accounting, Geography, Business Studies .

(b) ND upper credit in Mathematics/Statistics and other Science or relevant Social Science subjects in B (i) above from any recognized Polytechnic or Colleges of Technology by the Senate of the University of Benin. (b)  ND HND lower credit  as in B (iv) above

(c) NCE merit in Mathematics/Statistics and other Science or relevant Social Science subjects  from a recognized College of Education by the Senate of the University of Benin.  In addition, candidates should have overall merit grade

(ixx) BSU accepts ND upper credit/HND lower credit in relevant programme and NCE merit in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or Computer Science.

(xx) UNIABUJA accepts two (2) ‘A’ level  passes in Mathematics and either Physics and/or Chemistry  OR NCE (minimum 10points) with  credit  in Mathematics and another Science subject OR ND upper credit in Mathematics, Statistics  or Computer science

(xxi) MCPHERSON accepts
a) ‘A’ level/ND upper credit /HND lower credit or its equivalent in Mathematics and any one (1) of Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Statistics and Physics.
b)  JUPEB/IJMB ‘A’ level or equivalent in related subjects

(xxii)    EUI accepts;

a)    Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics and any other Science subject.

b)   NCE with at least Merit in Mathematics and one of Physics, Chemistry or Economics.

c)    OND/HND with credit passes from a recognised institution in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements.

d)   Very good passes in JUPEB in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

e)   IJMB passes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

(xxiii)   FED-GASHUA requires ‘A’ Level passes or equivalent with passes in Mathematics and one of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography and Economics. HND (Lower credit) in Mathematics and any of Statistics, Physics, Computer Science and Engineering and NCE with at least merit in Mathematics and one of Physics, Chemistry or Economics and any other Science Subjects. IJMB 6 points will be admitted to 200 Level.

(xxiv) FED-WUKARI – Direct Entry candidates must obtain at least two ‘A’/Level passes in Science subjects or at GCE A/ Level IJMB/Advanced NABTEB or merit pass at NCE at least Lower credit in OND/HND in Mathematics. Candidate must also satisfy UTME admission requirements of Five (5) Credits including English Language and Mathematics.

(xxv) UNILAG accepts Very good passes in the following three (3) JUPEB/’A’-level subjects: Physics, Mathematics and any one (1) of Chemistry, Biology, Economics and Geography and requires ‘O’ level credit pass in Further Mathematics. Does not accept NCE.

(xxvi) FED-LAFIA accepts Two (2) ‘A’ level passes to include Mathematics or Statistics. NCE credit passes in relevant subjects to include IJMB, ND/HND, NCE like Mathematics.

(xxvii) FED-KASHERE accepts A’ Level credit passes in Physics and Mathematics.

(xxviii) KASU accepts Two ‘A’ Level passes in Mathematics and Physics. NCE merit in Mathematics and any of Physics, Statistics, Chemistry. ND/HND Lower Credit in related field. IJMB/GCE ‘A’ Level 7 points and above in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements.

(xxix) BUK requires; a) Two (2) ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics and any other science subject. b) NCE with at least merit in Mathematics and one of Physics, Chemistry.
