Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Banking and Finance under the Faculty of Social & Management Sciences in the above listed universities include;
Mathematics, one Social Science subject and any other subject
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVERS)
(i) CRESENT, KWASU and UNIBEN require Economics, Mathematics and any other subject.
(ii) NIUN and AJAYI – Same as in Accounting
(iii) BABCOCK accepts Commerce in lieu of Mathematics
(iv) SALEM and WESTERN-DEL require Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject.
(v) LASU requires Economics and one of Government or Geography.
(vi) AL-HIKMAH accepts Commerce in lieu of Mathematics or Economics.
(vii) Principles of Account, Commerce, Government.
(viii) UNIABUJA requires Economics/Commerce, Mathematics and any other Social Science/ Commercial Subject.
(ix) PAU accepts Principles of Accounting in lieu of Mathematics.
(x) UNIKINGS – Same as in Accounting
(xi) BELLS accepts Mathematics and any two (2) Social Science subjects.
(xii) ABU requires Use of English, Economics, mathematics and any Management or Social Science Subject.
(xiii) BELLS requires Mathematics, Economics and any other subject from Geography, Government, Commerce or Accounting.
(xv) KASU requires Economics, Mathematics and one other subject.
(xvi) LANDMARK requires Mathematics, Economics any other Commercial/ Social Science.
O’Level Requirements
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Banking and Finance;
You require;
Five (5) SSC credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other relevant subjects.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVERS)
(i) REDEEMERS Same as Accountancy / Finance / Accounting
(ii) GOUNI and WESTERN-DEL Same as in Accounting
(iii) NDU accept;
a. Banking, Finance and Insurance require five (5)’O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two (2) of the following; Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography and Statistics
b. Office Management Technology requires five (5)’O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Economics, and three (3) other subjects.
(vi) LASU requires two (2) other subjects from Principles of Account, Commerce and Office Practice.
(v) RHEMA accepts ND in Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Financial Studies, Agricultural Economics or NCE in Economics/Business Studies with the UTME requirements.
(vi) CRESCENT requires five (5)’O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two (2) of the following: Commerce, Geography and Statistics.
(vii) SWU for Business Administration requires two (2) of Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography, and Statistics as other relevant subjects.
(viii) UNIKINGS – Same as in Accounting
(ix) CHRISTOPHER requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, one Science subject and any one of Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography or Statistics.
(x) BELLS require five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at one or two (2) sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two (2) subjects. (xiv) EUI requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other relevant subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.
(xi) LCU requires ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics/Commerce and any other two (2) subjects.
(xii) MOUNTAIN TOP requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at not more than two sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two subjects from the following: Geography, Biology, Commerce, Government, Account and Book-keeping.
(xiii) BELLS requires Five (5) SSC credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other relevant subjects.
(xiv) KASU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other subjects.
(xv) LANDMARK requires Five (5) SSC credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Commercial subject and at least a pass in science subject or a credit level pass in ,social science.
(xvi) EDSU requires five (5) credit passes at SSC or its equivalent including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two (2) other relevant subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.
Direct Entry Requirements
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Banking and Finance, if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
(i) Two (2)’A’ Level passes in Accounting or Economics and one other subject.
(ii) NCE merit in relevant subjects.
(iii) ND credit.
(iv) Foundation International exam such as ICAN, ACCA, ICMA, GPFA.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVERS)
(i) GOUNI, AJAYI and NILE – Same as in Accounting
(ii) CRESCENT
a. Two (2)’A’ Level passes to include Mathematics and either Economics or Accounts.
b. IJMB at acceptable grades.
c. NCE credit, ND, HND lower credit and approved equivalent may be admitted to the appropriate level.
(iii) LASU requires two (2)’A’ Level passes chosen from Accounting, Economics, Business Management,Mathematics and Statistics. LASU accepts’A’ Level pass in Government. ND/HND not admissible for Direct Entry.
(iv) BIU same as in Accounting.
(v) OOU accepts Part I Chartered Institute of Bankers.
(vii) UNICAL accepts ND in Banking and Finance.
(vii) UNIBEN – in addition to the UTME requirements, requires two (2)’A’ Levelpasses including Economics; ND upper credit in Accounting, Business Studies or Financial Studies; HND lower credit in Accounting , Financial Studies, Business Studies or Banking and Finance; NCE merit with ‘O’ Level credit pass in Economics or Business Studies; Associate Institute of Bankers (Part 1). Accepts HND lower credit or merit in relevant Programme.
(viii) WESTERN-DEL Same as in Accounting
(ix) CALEB accepts ND credit in Accounting, Banking, Financial Studies, or ATS, ICAN may be considered for admission by Direct Entry provided they have the UTME requirements at one sitting.
(x) BUK does not accept Chemistry, Physics, Agricultural Science and History.
(xi) NDU requires five (5)’O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two (2) other subjects at not more than two (2) sittings.
(xii) SWU accepts
a. NCE merit in relevant subjects.
b. ND in Management, Marketing, Accounting and Banking/Finance with a minimum of ‘B’ overall average.
c. Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Accounting or Economics and any one other subject.
d. IJMB/NCE/ND/Banking Certificate/ CIBN course or approved equivalent.
(xiii) UNIABUJA accepts two (2) ‘A’ Levelpasses in Economics and any of Social Science and Management or ND upper credit in relevant programmes in addition to the UTME requirements.
(xiv) UNIKINGS – Same as in Accounting
(xv) ODUDUWA accepts NCE merit, ND credit or Foundation International examinations such as ICAN, ACCA, ICMA, GPFA.
(xviii) CHRISTOPHER requires two (2)’A’ Level passes chosen from Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Government, Statistics and Geography. Accepts HND, ND or NCE credits in relevant subjects.
(xix) EDSU accepts;
a) Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes in Accounting or Economics and one other subject.
b) NCE with passes at merit level in relevant subjects.
c) ND/HND at credit level in related discipline.
d) Very good passes in JUPEB/IJMB subjects.
(xxi) BELLS accepts Two (2) A level passes in Accounting or Economics and one (1) other subject.NCE merit in relevant subjects.ND credit.Foundation International exam such as ICAN, ACCA, ICMA, GPFA.
(xxii) KASU accepts Two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Statistics and Mathematics.HND/ND Lower Credit and NCE merit in related Discipline.
