Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements
In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Public Administration under the Faculty of Social & Management Sciences in the above listed universities include;
Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(1) UNIBEN (for Public Administration) requires Government/History, one Social Science subject and any other subject. (iv) LAUTECH requires third subject from Physics, Chemistry or Biology/Agric. Science
(2) UNICAL requires Government, Economics, Geography, Mathematics, Accounting and Commerce.
(3) LASU:
(a) For Business Administration requires one of Commerce, Geography or Government.
(b) For Insurance requires one of Geography, Commerce, Business Methods or Statistics.
(c) For Public Administration requires Government as the other subject.
(4) AUE requires five credit passes to English Language, Mathematics and any threes from Economics, Geography, Commerce, Government, Accounts and Book-Keeping at not more than two sittings.
(5) UMYU requires for Public Administration Government or History.
(6) UMYU for Business Administration – Same as in Economics.
(7) OOU accepts Mathematics/Economics and any two other Social Science subjects.
(8) BAYERO requires Government or History plus two other Social Science subjects.
(9) UNIABUJA for Public Administration requires Mathematics, Government, and any other Social Science subject.
O’Level Requirements
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Public Administration;
You require;
Five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(1) LASU:
(a) For Accounting it requires other two relevant subjects could be from any of Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Office Practice and Secretarial duties.
(b) For Public Administration if requires ‘O’ Level credit to include English Language, Mathematics, Government, Economics and any one of Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Office Practice and Secretariat Studies.
(c) For Business Administration it requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics plus any three of Economics, Accounting, Commerce, Government and Geography.
(d) For Insurance, it requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any two of Accounting, Business Method, Commerce, Government, Geography and Statistics.
(e) For Marketing, it requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics plus any three of Business Method, Commerce, Book Keeping and Economics.
(2) UNICAL requires five credit including English Language and Government and at least a Pass in Mathematics. No candidates will be considered without a credit in English Language.
(3) GOUNI requires Five SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings in subjects which include English Language, Mathematics and Economics.
(4) REDEEMER requires Five ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two subjects in Social Sciences.
(5) CRAWFORD requires for Business Administration five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English, Economics, Mathematics and at least 2 from Business Methods, Accounting, Commerce, Geography and Government
(6) AAU requires five credit passes including English, Mathematics, Economics, Government/History and any other subject. AAU can accept History/Government. AAU also accepts Mathematics
(7) UNICAL requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any two of Arts or Social Science subjects.
(8) GOUNI accepts
(a) For Business Administration and Marketing credit pass in Commerce in lieu of Economics.
(b) For Public Administration five SSCE credit passes in English, Mathematics, Government or History or Commerce and two other subjects.
(9) UMYU accepts
(a) Five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English, Mathematics, Economics and any other two relevant Social Science subjects in not more than two sittings.
(b) For Business Administration, credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Economics or Commerce and any two Social Science subjects.
(c) For Public Administration, five credit passes or its equivalent in English, Mathematics, Government or History and any other two subjects from Arts or Social Science in not more than two sittings.
(10) KSU for Public Administration five SSCE credit passes in English, Mathematics, Government, Economics and any other Arts or Social Science subject.
(11) UNIBEN (for Insurance) – A pass in Further Mathematics is an advantage.
(12) UNIBEN (for marketing) requires five credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other subjects at not more than two sittings
(13) UNIABUJA for Public Administration requires five Credit Passes at SSCE (or its equivalent) including English, Mathematics, Government or History, Economics or Commerce and any other relevant subjects.
(14) BABCOCK – A pass in Economics may be considered provided the candidate has a credit pass in Accounting or Commerce.
(15) ELUON requires five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings.
Direct Entry Requirements
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Public Administration, if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require;
Two ‘A’ level passes including Economics.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS
(1) AAU accepts:
(a) BSc, BA or HND in other discipline
(b) ND (Upper Credit) in Accounting.
(c) Foundation of ICAN
(2) AAU requires A’ level pass in Accounts. Accepts National Diploma in Accounting, Banking and Finance or Business Management from a recognised institution.
(3) LASU accepts
a. ND/HND not admissible for Direct Entry.
b. For Public Administration two (2) ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography and Statistics.
c. For Marketing and Business Administration two (2) ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography, Business Methods and Economics.
d. For Accounting two (2) ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government and Mathematics.
e. For Insurance two (2) ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography and Statistics.
(4) UNIBEN accepts
a. For Insurance and Actuarial Science:
i. Applicant should possess five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes or equivalent, two (2) of which shall be at the ‘A’ Level or ‘O’ Level credit passes at least three (3) of which shall be at the ‘A’ Level provided that subjects are not counted at both levels of the examination. Credit passes at the ‘O’ Level must include English Language and Mathematics.
ii. ND upper credit in relevant programme in addition to five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes.
iii. HND lower credit in relevant programmes in addition to five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes.
iii. Final Certificate of relevant Professional Bodies in addition to five (5) ‘O’ Level credit passes.
b. For Marketing:
i.UTME requirements plus two (2) subjects passed at the ‘A’ Level, one(1) of which should be Accounting and the other either Economics or Business Management.
(5) UNICAL accepts
a. For Accounting:
(i). CALABAR DBA, ND upper credit in relevant programmes; HND lower credit in relevant programme
(ii). does not accept IJMB or ‘A’ Level paper or NCE for Direct Entry.
b. For Marketing:
(i) Two (2) ‘A’ Level passes chosen from Economics or Mathematics, Government and Geography. ND in Business Administration.
(ii) Does not accept IJMB and NCE
c. For Business Management:
(i) ND credit in any Management programme including Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Management, Marketing and Computer science.
(ii) ‘A’ Levelpasses in any three (3) of Accounting, Business Management, Economic and Mathematics plus ‘O’ Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Commerce or Economics.
