NECO GCE Results Statistics November/December 2024

NECO has released the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External results. Over 84,000 candidates sat for the exam, with more than half securing five credits, including English and Mathematics. Read further for full details and how to check results.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has published the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External results.

The examination took place between November 14 and December 14, 2024.

The announcement was made by Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, during a press conference at the NECO headquarters in Minna.

Candidate Performance Breakdown

A total of 86,067 candidates registered for the examination.

Out of this number, 84,799 candidates sat for the exams.

The performance data shows:

  • 57,114 candidates (67.35%) secured five credits or more, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • 70,711 candidates (83.39%) earned five credits or more, regardless of English and Mathematics.
  • 83,220 candidates took the English Language exam, with 62,929 (75.62%) obtaining credit and above.
  • 83,024 candidates sat for Mathematics, with 77,988 (93.93%) earning credit and above.

Examination Malpractice Cases

A total of 6,160 candidates were involved in malpractice.

This marks a 27.7% decrease from the 8,518 cases recorded in 2023.

NECO has taken action against those involved in malpractice, with the following measures:

  • Seven supervisors from Oyo, Ogun, Lagos, Cross River, and Ebonyi States have been recommended for blacklisting.
  • Fourteen exam centres (10 in Ogun and 4 in Oyo) have been blacklisted due to widespread malpractice in nine subjects.

    It’s sad to still see that a lot of students are still involved in Examination malpractice in the country.

    However, seeing there’s a decrease from the record last year, it’s a good improvement.

    But I really hope there’s something that can be done to permanently remove the malpractices.

    In another way, kudos to those who passed without involving in malpractice.
