After six years of unsuccessful attempts, Nigerian woman Omotoke Titilope has finally secured the prestigious UK Chevening Scholarship, allowing her to pursue a master’s degree in Special Education, Needs, Disabilities, and Inclusion at the University of Hull.
Omotoke, a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, first applied for the fully funded scholarship in 2018 but faced multiple rejections over the years. Despite setbacks, she remained determined, continuously improving her application until she succeeded in 2024.
Reflecting on her journey, she credited her persistence, strategic preparation, and strong support system—including her mentor and husband—for helping her overcome self-doubt and refine her application. She shared key strategies that led to her success, such as early preparation, thorough research on her chosen university and course, and extensive mock interviews.
Expressing gratitude to the Chevening Awards and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Omotoke encouraged aspiring scholars to stay resilient, learn from past mistakes, and keep striving for success.
