(a) The harrow is used for land preparation.
(b) (i) Disc plough is used before the harrow is required or plough
(ii) Ridger
(c) The vertical stalk is strong. pointed and bent forward and thís enables it to till the soil and break soil lumb of hardpans thereby, reducing the lumbs to small particles.
(d) Maintenance of the implements:
- clean the implement removing all trashes or mud from it at the start and at the end of operations
- Ensure that nut caps, screws or shields are tightened.
- replace worn-out parts
- keep in dry and cool places.
- joints should be oiled or greased regularly
- adhere to manufacturers instructions
(e)(i) The soil structure will be disturbed or destroyed as the topmost layer of the fertile soil is mixed with the sub-soil and texture may be reduced from larger particles to smaller ones.
