Butene has four isomers:

  • But-1-ene: CH\(_3\)CH\(_2\)CH=CH\(_2\)
  • But-2-ene: CH\(_3\)CH=CHCH\(_3\)
  • Cis but-2-ene: A geometrical isomer
  • Trans but-2-ene: A geometrical isomer. Out of the four isomers, there are two geometric isomers which are cis but-2-ene and trans but-2-ene.
