Four UNILAG students have been selected for the Erasmus KA171+ Exchange Program in Poland, where they will gain international exposure, enhance their academic knowledge, and develop global networks, with Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade Ogunsola congratulating them on their achievement.
Four students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have been selected to participate in the Erasmus KA171+ Exchange Program in Poland, set to commence in March 2025. The program will take place at the University of Szczecin, running from March 1st to July 14th, 2025, as part of the 2024/2025 academic session.
The selected students include Priscilla Oboh, a 400-level Mass Communication student; Olawale Fathiah, a 300-level Human Kinetics and Health Education student; Luqman Yusuff, a 400-level Economics student; and Ugochukwu Francis, a 300-level Law student.
Motivated by the opportunity to gain international exposure, the students expressed their enthusiasm about stepping beyond Africa to experience new academic and cultural environments. Oboh, speaking on her aspirations, stated, βI have always seen myself as a global citizen, somebody who is not bound to just the borders of Nigeria and Africa alone.β
The selection process for the exchange program involved three main stages: the application, shortlisting, and interview rounds. Reflecting on the experience, Fathiah described the interview stage as βthe most nerve-wracking,β while Ugochukwu recalled rigorous preparations, spending βseveral nights going over possible questions, refining responses, and ensuring readiness.β
In preparation for their stay in Poland, the students have been familiarizing themselves with Polish customs and language, while also engaging with international peers. Academically, they have reviewed relevant course materials and are eager to broaden their knowledge through diverse perspectives.
Encouraging future applicants, the selected students advised their peers to take initiative, prepare early, seek guidance from experienced mentors, and not let fear hold them back.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, congratulated the students on their achievement, commending their dedication and wishing them success in their academic endeavors abroad.
